The £27m Berry Court housing development located in the town centre, was completed in August 2018 and delivered 113 rental properties together with a new multi-storey car park that has re-provided public 155 spaces. More than 80% of the apartments were reserved ahead of handover and the development was fully occupied by November 2018.
The high-quality accommodation includes one, two and three-bedroom apartments. In partnership with Eastleigh-based Abri Housing, Berry Court was a ‘build to rent’ scheme, ideal for young professionals who may not have been ready to purchase a property.
The ‘Build to Rent’ model offered tenants secure tenancy agreements, zero administration fees, and a professionally managed home, and has continued to be very popular with residents.
Berry Court is now a vibrant town centre community that delivers economic and lifestyle benefits to the town.
The council approved the BDC site development plan in May 2014 enabling BDC to progress design and submit a planning application.
Following the grant of planning permission, in April 2016 the council approved the sale of the site to BDC.
