A melting pot of international cuisine is set to tempt taste buds as lovers of fine food head for the Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival.
The ten-day event, whose sponsors include the Bournemouth Development Company, will feature top class chefs, cooking tips and participation by restaurants and hotels.
Bournemouth Square will host a farmer and producers’ market, a celebration of street food, a World Food Market, a demo kitchen and themed days devoted to culinary treats from the Far East, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
There will also be an education zone involving budding chefs from local schools and the Bournemouth and Poole College.
Festival organiser Patrick Marmion said: “Our aim is to promote all that’s great in food production and food-related businesses. The festival has grown from a pipe dream a couple of years ago to a massive celebration of the food and drink scene here on the South Coast.”
Toby Marden, Development Manager, Bournemouth Development Company, said: “The festival is a great all-round opportunity for celebrating our town as it will help to bring in visitors and generate a buzz. It’s shaping up to be one of the foodie events of the summer.”
As well as the Bournemouth Development Company, the festival enjoys partnerships with Bournemouth Borough Council, Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce, BAHA (the Bournemouth Accommodation and Hotel Association), the Bournemouth Echo and Heart Dorset.
The festival will be launched on 20 June 2013 with a Barons of Beef three-course evening meal at the Miramar Hotel.
