Plans for new homes on the site of a Bournemouth car park long earmarked for development have gone on show to the public.
The scheme at Durley Road to the west of the town centre involves a block of 40 apartments for sale plus residents’ parking.
It is the latest project by the Bournemouth Development Company, a regeneration partnership to deliver Bournemouth Council’s Town Centre Vision.
The site has been identified as suitable for residential use in the Council’s Area Action Plan for several years.
The latest proposals follow a detailed development appraisal and Council approval of a site development plan.
Duncan Johnston, Director, Bournemouth Development Company, said: “We want to achieve a building of high architectural quality that will provide much needed new homes for people keen to live close to the town centre and beach.”
Councillor John Beesley, Leader of Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “The Bournemouth Development Company is playing a leading role in helping to regenerate key sites across the town. The proposal for Durley Road will house more residents at what is a strategic gateway location.”
Feedback from the exhibition will form an important part of public consultation ahead of any planning application.
The Bournemouth Development Company has already delivered the Citrus Building at Horseshoe Common, award-winning student accommodation at Madeira Road for Arts University Bournemouth and the Madeira Road multi-storey car park overlooking Wessex Way.
The Durley Road plans were on view at the Hallmark Hotel Bournemouth West Cliff.
